ASCABUS was founded on 21/09/1976 by the companies“Ayats, Beulas, Burillo, Camelsa, Castrosua, Ciscar, Ferqui, Icas, Icasa, Indecasa, Irizar, Noge, Obradors, Silgar, Maiso, Ugarte and Unicar, as a member of the Spanish Metal Confederation (Confemetal), a metal branch within the CEOE (Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations), its main activity being the manufacture of bus and coach bodies, being the coordinator for the formation of the association and first president, Mr. Emilio Ugarte Martínez. In 1983 the company moved to ANFAC (Asociación Española de Fabricantes de Automóviles y Camiones) as an associate. Throughout our history, there have been ups and downs in the number of members that have shaped the current composition of the association.

At present, Ascabus is made up of 100% of the Spanish bus and coach body manufacturers.
