ASCABUS was founded on 21/09/1976 by the companies ‘Ayats, Beulas, Burillo, Camelsa, Castrosua, Ciscar, Ferqui, Icas, Icasa, Indecasa, Irizar, Noge, Obradors, Silgar, Maiso, Ugarte and Unicar, as a member of the Spanish Metal Confederation (Confemetal), a metal branch within the CEOE (Spanish Confederation of Business Organisations), its main activity being the manufacture of bus and coach bodywork, with the coordinator for the formation of the association and first president, Mr. Emilio Ugarte Martínez.

In 1983 the company moved to ANFAC (Asociación Española de Fabricantes de Automóviles y Camiones) as an associate. A lo largo de nuestra historia se han producido altas y bajas de asociados que han conformado la composición actual de la asociación.

At present, Ascabus is made up of 100% of the Spanish bus and coach body manufacturers.
